Email won't accept the code sent via text to verify my identity

I setup my new phone and need to re-enter my password for my yahoo email account (it's an sbcglobal email). When it prompts me to enter the code to make sure it's me, I get a text message with the code just fine. But when I try to enter it, I get a message saying, "Looks like there was a recent change to that number. We can't send a text to it right now. Please choose a different number and try again". What does this mean and how do I fix this? I'm also unable to enter a different number.

Hi there, @sidboy1! We understand that you are getting a security code error to verify your identity when you log into your email, but you do not have the requirement. That is frustrating. Let's see if we can figure this out together.

What we need to do is look into your profile to see what password reset options are set for you.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Go to att.com
  2. Click on Account in the upper right hand corner.
  3. Then sign in.
  4. Sign in to your account as normal.
  5. Once you get the welcome back page, click on the down arrow next to your name and then click on profile.
  6. On the right side of the next page of your profile you will should see some password recovery steps. Make sure that the cell phone number is not there. If there is a number there, please remove it and save your work.
  7. Log out of the account.
  8. Try to log back into your account again

Please let us know if these steps work for you.
