Email Security/Privacy

My email address is old (; therefore, it is on the black web and it has been hacked.  I changed my password frequently...sometimes I get a message that I've tried to log in too many times.  When this happens, I know someone has tried to log into my account.  I think about changing my email but so many accounts are linked to my email address. Would it be helpful to change my AT&T ID/email address?

I once discovered an email address that got tagged onto outgoing emails.  I found in deep in the filters and I was able to remove it.  I see another suspicious email address but i don't find it in the filters.  I feel like my email has been cloned or something.

I don't have any issues with fraud...all my credit is locked.  But I would like to find a way to keep my email and just make it secure.

Let us shed more light on the login error you're getting and help you keep your email secure, browniz12.

We've found out that the main reason so many of our email users are being told that they've tried to log in too many times is due to bad actors trying to breach our customers' email accounts. We don't have a time frame for when this will be resolved, but rest assured we're looking into this and blocking the IP addresses of the bad actors who are making these login attempts.

For the time being, the workaround we have in place is to reset your password like you've been doing, and clear your browser's cache and cookies to remove any stored password information.

When it comes to keeping your email secure, we suggest that you check out our guide on Recovering a hacked email account. You'll find lots of helpful suggestions for securing your email, such as changing your password, creating or updating your security account questions and answers, securing your computer, and updating your email settings.
