Email received from AT&T - legit or scam?

I received the attached email today. I am trying to determine if it is legit or a scam. If legit, can someone advise how I went into the link to update my profile, but I don't see anything to indicate how I would set up password recovery options.

Thank you for your help!

Bev

Hello Beverly,

ATTENTION! Our records show you have not set up password recovery options for your AT&T email account.

Hi there, bkranz. We understand that you have received an email that looks a bit odd. We can help you with that.

If you are unsure about an email that contains links, we would recommend not clicking on it. They could be harmful.

As far as the topic of the email profile recovery options, we can help you along that path to make sure that your account is up-to-date. Please follow these steps:

  1. Go to AT&T.
  2. Go over to MyAT&T and using the dropdown click on Sign In.
  3. Enter in your full email address and current password.
  4. If successful, you should be on your profile landing page.
  5.  Find the Profile Icon and click there.
  6. Scroll to Sign In info.
  7. Look at the recovery options. If the options are not filled in, then add the options. Start with recovery email address as it is the easiest. The recovery phone number will need to be a AT&T Wireless phone number. Special Note: Modifing these options will place a 30 day hold on password resets except for the security question options. After 30 days these options can be used to reset passwords.
  8. If the options are already filled in, then you and sign out of the profile and continue on.

Try these steps and let us know how it goes!
