Email lock out

I am again locked out of my email on my computer.   I can access it on my phone.  When I try to log in on my computer I am prompted to change by password, but there is no way that I am going to do that because it will kick me out of the email on my phone.   What in the world is wrong with ATT??

Hello @Lakeca2. We would love to help you find a more permanent fix to what you are seeing when you get locked out. 



To best help you, please let us know just a few things:

  • When you are logging in using a personal computer, are you logging in via Currently? Or a third party mail client such as Outlook or Thunderbird? This will help us understand what the root cause of this might be.
  • Are you seeing any error codes when you are locked out and have to update your password? There are a few different error codes you may be seeing when prompted. Care Code 205.2 [LU003] in particular appearing unnecessarily and frequently is something we're aware of and are working to get resolved as soon as possible. At this moment, the workaround is to sync your email via a password reset.

In the meantime, we can try to mitigate the frequency of this happening. Please give the following a try: 

  1. Clear the cache and cookies from the browser you are using. This will prevent your saved passwords or browser settings from interacting with your email account in a negative way.
  2. Try using a different web browser, and make sure that it is running on the most recent update. We recommend Firefox or Chrome.
  3. Take a look at our official forums post on Email Troubleshooting for a variety of additional tips.
  4. Once you have done eveything above, reset your password again to resync your account. Please be advised that after consistant updates to your password or failed log in attempts, that your account may continue to be locked for the full 24 hour duration in an effort to protect your account fom fraud. Continued attempts to log, such as on your mobile device, may cause this to lockout to reoccur.
  5. You may also decide to try to use a third party mail client if you have not done so already. To do so, you will need to create a secure mail key and link your account to the service. For an example, here are the steps to set up Microsoft Outlook. We recommend this since it appears you are not experiencing this on your mobile device. The mobile mail apps operate in a similar way, so it may be a temporary fix worth trying.
