e-mail: does not want to stay "signed on for two weeks"

This appeared yesterday after reboot/restart of the browser. The e-mail account @sbcglobal.net keeps signing itself out every hour or so, requiring a log in. Logging in is not immediately smooth, though. First, sign in screen appears and asks for email address only.

Once you enter this, click "Next", the screen goes blank and the tab displays: "Sign out successful". Then, a new sign in screen appears (it is entirely blank except for e-mail and password and option "to stay "signed on for 2 weeks")

After entering email and the password, the next page shows an error. However, if you now click on your e-mail link or ,e mail link saved as a bookmark, your e-mail does finally load successfully. The signed-on email stays for 1 hour or so, then the issue repeats itself.

The sign in issue should be resolved now. If still having issues, clear your cache and cookies one time and it should work after that.

Hi David, is there an estimate when this will be resolved? It is very difficult to work with this issue. Thanks.

@ATTHelpForums Same problem, mine appears browser related. See the difference between the two sign in pages in Chrome and Firefox.

Sorry, not browser related. I can get both of the screens you showed above on Chrome or on Safari - they are random, sometimes I get one and sometimes the other one but the results are the same, I get a disconnect after about an hour regardless of which log on screen I get.

@ATTHelpForums I have the same problem with an SBCGlobal email address. I have tried both Chrome and Firefox - I have also tried all the clearing of cache, cookies etc. None of those suggestions work.

I normally sign into my account once every two weeks, NOW, I am having to sign in each and every time I want to go on line, sometimes as many as 30+ times a day, what is wrong?

We're happy to look into this for you, @OldestSea.

When you say that you have to sign into your account to go online, what do you mean?

Are you talking about having to sign in each time you visit myAT&T?

Try clearing your browser's history, cookies, cache, and saved passwords. This will refresh the browser and may stop the repeated sign-in requests.

I'm having the same problem with my @sbcglobal.net account that I've had for years. It takes me about three attempts to log into that mail, and even tho I click Keep me logged in for 2 weeks, it logs me out automatically when I'm not active on the site for more than a couple of minutes. Its been going on for three days and I really depend upon this email client of yours. Thanks.

I too get that error message at times.

I am still having the same problem of when I want to just go to att.net and get email I am having to sign in and my browser history is clean so that can't be the reason why.

The problem started when AT&T along with yahoo started this NEW email thingy...appears it has a few bugs in it that were not ironed out before it was released...and this is coming to you from someone that taught computer science in the beginning before there was an internet.

Hey @OldestSea,

Login through a different web browser. If the issue continues to occur. We recommend logging under incognito mode. There maybe trouble with the add-on or extensions, causing the loop-back.

Let us know if this helps.

Until two days ago, I could open my ATT/yahoo email and it would stay open until I closed it. NOw it keeps shutting down after about 45 minutes on non use. I open it in chrome and it needs info to sign in to yahoo then it logs out and put me into att to get to my email. Help, please.

Have you tested this on different web browsers?

Are you using currently.com or a third-party mailbox?

We have an article here in the forums that provides Email, Mail Client, Website & Features Troubleshooting. WebMail and Features Troubleshooting and 3rd Party Mailbox Troubleshooting are the sections you'll want to look into.

Give it a try and let us know how it went.

I am having the same issue. I use Firefox but have also tried Edge, Google and AVG. It was only doing it on one computer until yesterday. Now it happens on my laptop and desktop. Very frustrating.

The troubleshooting guide is from 2017. This is 2020 and it just started happening. Sometimes I get an IBM screen that says access denied. I have used AT&T/yahoo email for years and have never had a problem like this. It logs me out constantly even though I request to stay logged in for 2 weeks.

Same thing is happening to me. Started a few days ago, and it is driving me crazy. I've followed all the suggestions that I've been able to find, but nothing solves the problem. What is up with AT&T making all these changes? Last year, they got rid of our disposable addresses without telling us ahead of time, and that created a HUGE mess for me. And, now this. AT&T keeps pushing me toward the door.

How can I solve this problem of constantly having to log back in to my email? It's a deal breaker for me.

Used to be able to sign in and click stay logged in for 2 weeks, now when I check that box, after using my e-mail, I log off next time even 1 minute later I have to completely sign in again? What purpose does "stay signed in" serve if it won't keep me signed in? Better yet how can I resolve this issue?

Here to help with your email, @Asborjn.

Are you having this issue with this device only? Have you cleared cache and cookies on your device? Have you cleared all saved passwords prior to saving the password again?

Please let us know if this helps!

@ATTHelp Hi Elmi, it seems to be this device only, and I have cleared my cache and cookies, password etc. It seems to have started when AT&T changed the log in screen from the old to new. I currently try to log in using Yahoo mail, get sent to an AT&T log in page (new) where after entering user/PW and checking stay signed in I used to get a check mark now I get a - symbol to show I want to stay signed in.

Its still logging me off even though I have checked the remain signed in box.

How about a box popping up when e-mail closes asking if I wish to remain logged on?

Also experiencing this issue for 3 days now. In Safari and Firefox using sbc and yahoo. It logs off; goes back to primary user's logon and requires a series of entries (email and password) to open up email account and closes up within hours of logging on. Frustrating.

Starting yesterday I keep getting kicked out of my e-mail even when I sign-in and check the stay signed in for 2-weeks tab. They also apparently want me to change to a new thing called Currently which I know nothing about.

It already has been called currently Att before. Since the begining of the currently switch over every time the word Yahoo appears on the page there are probllems. How are we going to cure this one.

@ATTHelp In the last 24 hours, I've had 13 calls to att customer support, finally reached their Digital Assistance Center, and the person I spoke to resolved my login problem, but I am STILL getting logged out every hour or so. I wrote a letter detailing my problems to Randall, L. Stephenson, Chairman and C.E.O., AT&T Headquarters, 208 S. Akard St., Dallas TX 75202. I think it would be a good idea for everyone with att problems to write him.

Once again the famous Yahoo email login redirect has struck me - I cannot sign into my Yahoo email because I am redirected to the att login page. This issue has been going on for two years as far as I can see. This is the third time I've had it. Att blames Yahoo and Yahoo blames att and it never gets resolved. Att - this is enough to make me change internet providers. PLEASE provide a solution. Thank you.

I had this problem this week, followed by the famous and dreaded "Yahoo email login redirect problem". This is a problem generated by att, and att is not answering its internet help line after over half an hour on hold. Fourth time I've been plagued by this problem in the past 12 months. Time to change internet providers!!!

Starting yesterday when I login to my sbcglobal.net account I am redirected to a different AT&T login page than was previously presented. I check the box to stay logged in and I am logged int to my account. If I close the browser and re-open it I have to login to Yahoo and AT&T again. I use Chrome but this also happens on FireFox and Edgehave. I have cleared the cache and checked the cookie settings and I still have the problem.

Really don't know when/if any response will occur. On another thread, this:

"We are working on resolving this trouble. On our AT&T Mail support page scroll down to the bottom, and click on "Feedback." Submit a detailed information (sic) on the trouble you are having. Provide your contact information and Email address for them to look into your trouble directly."

Thanks for choosing AT&T, and stay safe."

People on the thread leave their contact info on linked support page, but no response yet. The at&t page itself says they cannot get back but to contact them. So......

So frustrating!! I discovered a work around until AT&T gets their act together. Get logged back in to email however you can while selecting stay signed in for 2 weeks. Once in, on the main email page click on "Settings". Click on "More Settings". In the left column click on "Switch to basic Mail". This will get you to an old version. I did this yesterday and was still signed in this morning. I'm so tired of seeing AT&T people saying empty your cache or try another browser. This is the AT&T application not our computer or browser! Like this if it works for you!

I have the same problem and it started 5/21/2020. I have had my email address for a very long time and it includes the old AT&T sbcglobal.net. I did not do anything to cause the computer to continually log off the email after about an hour. I have deleted my cookies and checked for computer updates and /or revisions.
