Email Authentication across on multiple devices needs to be addressed

Authentication across on multiple devices needs to be addressed,

This problem, which I posted about previously seems to be getting worse.

It was already bad, now it's just more frequent.

AT&T shows no sign of acknowledging that there is even a problem.

It's SERIOUS PROBLEM.  My previous post, which I can't comment on now, has gotten hundreds of replies.

So I know: IT'S NOT JUST ME.

I have to reset my password about once every 24 hours now.

Even if I wait, one of my email clients will hang.  I am actually not logging in on a frequent basis.  I have my work computer, home computer and iPhone, that's all. I do wait between authentications.

Hey there @IronJuke. We understand that this has been a persistently frustrating experience for you and would like to help find a work-around for this while we work on a more permanent solution.

We'd like to start by asking a few questions:

  1. What domain name is your email address under? (,, etc.) Some of our legacy emails operate a bit differently then others so we would like to know specifically.
  2. What applications are you using to access your email on mobile device and are you using any third party mail clients (such and Thunderbird or Outlook) on your PCs? The way different mail clients and apps interact can be a contributing factor to what you are seeing
  3. Are you able to log in to Currently? Knowing this is an important step to diagnosing what can be happening.
  4. Are we correct in understanding that you are seeing the error 'Care Code 205.2' when prompted to change your password?

We appreciate you letting us know.

In the meantime, we would recommend trying a few things to mitigate the frequency of these password resets.

  • After a password reset, clear the cache and cookies of each of your devices, to clear the memory of previous saved passwords.
  • If you are using a mail client like Thunderbird or Outlook, Recreate your Secure Mail Key as well. This will help to resync your account. If you are not using a 3rd party mail client, but would like to try it, here are the steps to set up Outlook with an AT&T network address.
  • For general pointers, we recommend taking a look at our official forums post on email troubleshooting for a variety of helpful options.

Please let us know if any of this was able to help here on the forums.
