Email access prevented by "Let's make sure it is you"

I changed from ATT cell phone carrier in Dec 2022. My att.net email continued working fine. A week ago, when the "Let's Make Sure It's you" came up, my cell # was no longer listed to receive the code. Without the code, I've been locked out of email for more than a week. No one in multiple calls to customer service has been able to help and resolve the problem. How do I get my cell # added back to verify my identity?

We can help you regain access to your email, Jmrr.

We recommend that you use our guide on managing the wireless number for your user ID to see if a different number is assigned to your ID and learn how to change it or assign a new one.

  1. Go to your myAT&T Profile. Sign in, if asked.
  2. Scroll to Sign-in info and look for Recovery phone number. If you see a number there, you have a wireless number assigned to your ID.

To assign, change, or remove the wireless number for your ID:

  1. Go to your myAT&T Profile. Sign in, if asked.
  2. Scroll to Sign-in info.
  3. Select Edit or Remove for your Recovery phone
  4. Edit your details:
  • If assigning or changing a number, enter the verification code sent to the number.
  • If removing a number, follow the prompts.

       5 . Save your changes

If you need further assistance, let us know.

Aminah,

If I follow your instructions and sign in as asked, I can't get past the screen "Let's Make Sure It's you".  My cell # is not listed to receive the code as it used to be. If I'm not able to enter the code, there are no options for going any further.

Thanks for sharing that information with us, @Jmrr

In order to further assist with getting you into your email account, we'll need to meet you in a DM. We'll need to gather some information to see what options there are for you to receive your verification code. Please check your Direct Message inbox (it's the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums).

We look forward to hearing from you.
