I cannot log into my at&t account or email on my laptop.  I keep getting the error code CARE CODE: 205.2 [LU003] no matter what I do.  I am using chrome and have cleared my cash and cookies.  I am however able to see email on my cell phone.  Please help!

Let's get you logged back into your email, @Rhonda_Up.

If you're getting a care code error when signing into your email, we recommend either waiting 24 hours before trying again or resetting your email password to regain access. You can reset your email password by following these steps:

  1. Go to http://sm.att.com/193c64c0.
  2. Select Forgot password?
  3. Fill out the password info.
  4. Choose security questions or temporary password and follow the prompts. If you choose a temporary password, we’ll let you know where we sent it.
  5. Create your new password.

Resetting your email password should allow you to log back in without issue.

Let us know how the steps above work for you!

Let's get you logged back into your email, @cher45.

To get back into your email account after receiving a care code error, we highly recommend doing a password reset by following the steps mentioned above. Doing this may also allow your information to resync on our end, which should hopefully restore your account access.

We also recommend trying to use a different browser if the issue persists just to ensure that it's not an issue on your side.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach back out and we'll be more than happy to help.

I'm reading lots of comments from others with this same problem and having to reset password every week. Quite a nuisance when we access email on phone and web.

I'm experiencing this same issue every time I sign out and try to sign in again.  Yes, I can change my password to regain access, but having to do that day after day suggests something is wrong on the server side.  Please stop just telling us how to change our password and look into a fix!  Thanks.

Let's work on your email concern, 12bcurious

You have stated that you are able to reset your password so we are going to skip that all together. Depending on what you are checking your email on, you might need to Clear the Cache and Cookies on your browser. Here is how you do that:

If you have a PC running Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer®, or Edge®:

  1. Open your browser.
  2. Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete.
  3. Select the items you want to clear.
  4. Select the Delete, OK, Clear, or Clear data button, depending on your browser type.
  5. Close and reopen your browser.

If you have a Mac running Chrome or Firefox:

  1. Open your browser.
  2. Press Command+Shift+Delete.
  3. Select the items you want to clear.
  4. Select the Delete or Clear button, depending on your browser type.
  5. Close and reopen your browser.

If you have a Mac running Safari:

  1. Open your browser.
  2. Select Safari in the top left corner next to the Apple icon.
  3. Select Preferences, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data.
  4. Select the items you want to clear.
  5. Select the Remove or Remove All button, depending on your choices.
  6. Close and reopen your browser.

You can find a lot more information about clearing the cache and cookies of on your computer browser as well as, on your mobile device, by using our great AT&T E-Support Article entitled: Clear browser history, cookies, and cache.

Try this process and let us know if it clears the password reset loop for you.

Thank you for being the best part of AT&T and for posting on the AT&T Community Forums.

I am experiencing the same exact issue!!!! I am not able to log into my Yahoo (sbcglobal.net) email on my laptop.  I keep getting the error code CARE CODE: 205.2 [LU003].  I am using chrome and edge and have cleared my cash and cookies repeatedly.  I can view my email on my iPhone but not a computer. I am 1000% positive I entered my password correctly on my laptop and it is asking me to reset my password, which should not be required as it was definitely entered correctly. I am terrified of changing my password & then not being able to get in at all!!!  Why does this continue to happen AT &T??  It is terrifying as I've had this email for over 25 years & need access ASAP! It happens repeatedly and is just unacceptable in this day & age.

The only way to fix this is to chat with an ATT customer care person and have them "re-sync" your account. Its a bug in their system and either they can't find it or they won't invest in fixing it. As long as you remember your password, they can fix this is two seconds once you get them to do it. go to

https://www.att.com/search/?q=chat&linkCnt=10&linkSelPos=NaN

Get on chat and tell them you have the 205.2 bug and they need to re-sync your account.

How do you get a live chat person? When I tried I just got the automated help in Chat window.
To AT&T support:: I happened to remember today that I have Outlook installed on my laptop. Opened it up and bam, email downloaded. So,my android phone works for email and also Outlook. Only webmail is not working. I have followed all the "help" by AT&T support here short of resetting my password. Tried two different browsers, cleared cache and history-which I had a feeling would not help.
