CARE CODE: 205.2 [LU003] Error

I see a lot of people with this problem.   I tried calling 877-285-0117, Option 2.   The agent could not help, said "wait 24 hrs and try again".   I've been getting the error

CARE CODE: 205.2 [LU003]. “Looks like you’ve tried to sign in unsuccessfully too many times.   Recover your ID or reset your password to continue”

For several months now.   Waiting 24 hrs is stupid and pointless unless something is done in the background.   I do not have a current AT&T account to "sync" to, although I had a land line for 35 yrs, it is not recognized as I've disconnected it last year.   Anyway, I've seen people with some success getting past this on the forums here, looking for advice on how to proceed.  Please DO NOT ask me to login to change my password, that is the problem, I cannot.   I get the above error and when trying to reset my password, get challenge questions that I've never provided an answer to.   Something needs to change in the backend.   Note that I've created a "currently.com" ID so I could access the forums, but my two att.net accounts are locked out.

Some background context:

I have two att.net email accounts, I use them for business and personal communications.   I have had these accounts for 30 yrs, essentially without problems.   

I know my passwords and routinely access my email via multiple different clients on several OSs.    I cannot however use my accounts and passwords to login to the AT&T online services.   I receive the error message CARE CODE: 205.2 [LU003]. “Looks like you’ve tried to sign in unsuccessfully too many times.   Recover your ID or reset your password to continue”

I have tried to reset my password, but I am prompted for challenge questions that I have never supplied answers to, so that never works.   I have no other options to reset.   This occurs on both accounts across 3 different browsers.

In reading these forums, it appears this is a common problem, and requires an “account sync”.   I am assuming that in the migration from Yahoo to AT&T, while the basic POP/IMAP email functionality remained intact, the account is not setup properly online.   I would like this to get fixed so I can change my email passwords as needed.   I believe this should be an email to me with a link to reset, or a text message to reset, or some communication of a temp password I can use myself.

I am having the same issues as DonaldJ Peterson. My whole office is having this issue as all our emails end in SBCGlobal.net....most frustrating to say the least. I just had to update my Microsoft Windows and cannot connect my Outlook to my email ...

would greatly appreciate help with this!

What is the solution here? I had this probelm once and chat support resolved it. Now it's back and they keep telling me there is an outage in my area - however, I'm getting emails on my phone??
