CARE CODE: 201 [LU100]
I got locked out of my email account and during reset it doesn’t recognize my security answers and i get this code. It used to send me a text to reset but doesn’t anymore. I have multiple AT&T accounts and not all are linked. This is my main account however and i need assistance. However i also cannot get a person on the phone to assist me. What do i do?

Whenever someone finds the resolution, please be sure to come back to share with us.
I am so afraid of losing my e-mail history. I only have access via my cell phone now and I can’t run the chance of losing it and my computer access. I have way too much to lose if that happens. All of my emails from doctors, vendors, banks all communicate to me via that email address

You said "I only have access via my cell phone now and I can’t run the chance of losing it and my computer access."
If you have to change cell phones, you'll lose access completely. Your cell phone is currently operating under the authentication when you first set up the email. Once that authentication was processed for that device, the original password was no longer needed. That's why it still works even though you're locked out. Once you get a new device, the original password has to work as part of the new authentication process.
Best I can tell you is to establish a new email service somewhere besides AT&T/Yahoo before they lock you out of your current email completely. Hopefully you can find a way to export your emails from your cell phone or other device into your new service or possibly into a desktop client app like Thunderbird on a PC.

@DC9876 thank you so much. I recently had to replace phones thankfully I was able to get in my emails from the new phone as well.
I may have to start giving my doctors, banks a news email address now before I lose that access like you said.

This is ridiculous!. I get different Care Codes and must change my Password every time I log in. I have cleared cookies, caches and history.
Please fix this problem and do not put it back on the users. God knows we pay enough

Got a message today that my password has now changed after weeks of the too many attempts error CARE CODE: 201 [LU100].
So now the apps that had a secure mail key and could still access the email no longer work.
Bug? Hacked? I don't know but I know ATT don't care. They do everything they can not to let you access support. Did the get rid of support? Called 877.999.0593 from my bill but it will not let you talk to anyone and just tells you to go to the site for support.

I have been having the same issue for two weeks with my att mail account. When I try to sign in I get a an error message (care code 201). I have been on the phone with tech support three times. They tell me me they are looking into the issue and it will be resolved within a couple of days. They have told me this three different times, and still the same issue! This is ridiculous. I have had this att email account for 20 years. If I ever get access to my att mail account again I am switching everything over to Google mail. FYI..here is the tech support number.
800-331-0500. Tell them you want to resync email. Good luck

ATT should fix their problems but may be they want us to drop our accounts and use another services because I get more often than not. I have had this account for over 20 years and now it is useless because ATT can't get their stuff to work correctly. Reset the password and next day it does not work.

Have you tried changing the email address attached to the account? Mine was originally the main AT&t email of the account but I switched it to a Gmail account and haven't had any problems since.
I'm sure there's different reasons people are having the issue, but primarily it's because AT&t's database was hacked and there's folks that have lists of accounts and email addresses and they try to access them with various passwords and then that locks your account. They will also call AT&t and ask them to unlock the account and in my case they did that. Someone was then changing the passwords and phone numbers and email addresses inside my account. It was a total nightmare but I think I got it cleaned up. I was able to lock the account and then have AT&t reset my PIN number. The hacker had also changed the pin number but having AT&t reset it. I was able to get back in and change everything including the attached email address to the account.
