Can't add sbcglobal email to Outlook 365

I'm having trouble adding my sbcglobal email address to Outlook 365.  Whether set up through POP or IMAP, it consistently fails, even after using the mail security key from my account as the password.  Please advise.

Have you verified the server addresses against AT&T's current list of Mail Servers?

https://www.att.com/support/article/email-support/KM1010523/

Are you using your entire e-mail address as the user id?

@JefferMC  Yes, I verified the server addresses and that the entire email address was being used as the ID.  I also tried both POP3 and IMAP settings and both refused to work.

Things left to try:

1) Make sure you turn on Require logon using Secure Password Authentication. and/or My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication where appropriate.

2) Recreate your Secure Mail Key and try the new one

Hmm, that unfortunately didn't work either.  Any other suggestions?

Do you get a useful error message upon failure?

I'm assuming that you can get to your e-mail via the currently.com site?

Unfortunately it's just a generic error, regardless of username, password, or mail key used.  Mail is accessible via the website though and it's also accessible through Outlook on an older laptop.

There is no VPN in this scenario though and it won't add successfully regardless of location.

Do you have other e-mail accounts set up on this copy of Outlook, and do they work?

I'm wondering if your Windows Firewall is blocking outbound traffic from Outlook?   Maybe temporarily disable it completely to see if that fixes the issue.

I do have other working accounts on this copy of Outlook.  However, they're O365 accounts, so it's possible the firewall is blocking the POP3/IMAP ports I suppose?

O365 mailbox uses port 443 (https). Only 1 way to find out, disable firewall on the computer. It does sound like something is blocking outgoing traffic on those ports. Any security software installed?

What version is Outlook on that laptop? Is it connecting to your mailbox through the same gateway? Are we talking about the same operating systems (windows 10 or 11 or 7/8)?
