Cant access legacy att.net email account

I have forgotten my password, when I try and reset it I am prompted to answer security questions which I don't believe I ever set up.  I have had this email for about 15 years and have moved and changed phone numbers several times.  So I do not remember which telephone number or zip code might have been associated with my email if any at all.  I don't even recall using at&t service for anything other than email.  I access my email via yahoo.com.  Something odd to note is I can still see the last emails I received on my tablet which was back on June 29th 2020.  I am hoping this will find the right person that can assist in resetting my password and or unlocking my account.  Seems like this might be near impossible to get to the correct person being there is NO option related to email/login issues.

Thanks for responding.

I have had this email for some 30 years, since the old DSL days.  Now, I believe, it is part "Currently.com / Yahoo".

No one seems to be able to help me.  I've been on the phone for around four hours over the past five days being passed from one department to the next.

Is ATT aware of this problem with legacy DSL/att.net email users?

I use this email for business correspondence and medical contacts (67 years old).

This is an EMERGENCY!

How can I reset my password?

The reps are telling me the "system" will take 30 days to generate a temp password.  What??

I have an escalation ticket #227 811 504.

@televet   If you have to ask if AT&T is aware of this problem then you didn't look around in the forum very much.  😁

It's totally unacceptable and nothing that the phone or ATTHelp people tell you to do makes any difference.  You only have one hope and that's to go to the top of the food chain.

The best way to do that is to fill out the form HERE.

Ignore the stated purpose on the form.  This will be responded to within 24 hrs by someone from the Executive Care team at AT&T and they may be able to get this fixed for you.  I say "may" because we've seen a mixture of success and failure stories without any explanation as to why some can't be fixed.

Once you submit, make sure you're ready to get a call from a number that isn't familiar.  If you miss it your chances of calling back and getting a successful result goes down.

Good luck!

Thanks Tonydi!  I filled out the form but don't have an account with ATT.  Just email.

I'll post any progress.

This a terrible situation where an email I've used for over 30 years suddenly becomes inoperable and nobody can help.

@ATTHelp does not seem to read the exact issue. Why ask for reset again when you already did reset and got security questions that is not working?

Guys, if you know your password and getting error of too many sign in attempts, ask for your email be resynced by their helpful chat agents.

This happened to me and that's what I did. I just got so lucky I got a compassionate agent to gave me helpful information. When I sign in I uncheck the Keep me signed in for 2 weeks box to be continually logged in.

Note: Do not be rude to the agents as they are only doing their job and has nothing to do with this issue. Tell them what happened and they will help you.

If you will be able to recover your email, update your security questions and put in an alternate email right away. Also update your password as any time it can be invalidated due to system password requirements. I did that on att.com.

If you have forgotten your password and you have no recovery email and unable to answer security questions, then unfortunately you are out of luck and accept it and don't blame other people.

Be responsible enough to set up recovery option on your account.

Hope this helps.

I'm having a lot of trouble with my att.net email, too, which is why I'm looking here. The system logs me out about every 12 hours and never recognizes my password. So I always use the forgot password function. But I have found their digital assistance center to be somewhat helpful. If you ask for a supervisor you can usually talk to someone a little bit better. Their number is 877-285-0113.

I just spend over 2 hours on the phone.  I can not log in my email that I have had since 2014.  They first wanted the zip code where I lived when I set it up. I verified that.  My reset password security questions did not like my standard answers.  I was on the phone with lady and she was bouncing back forth between me and Digital Support.  They wanted my old Uverse account # and said that was the only way they could help me. I was then transferred to Uverse and had a wonderful guy name Jason work with me and put in every home address I have had since 1996 and every other email address I have had and he could not find an account.  I am a ghost in their system. He said he read an internal article yesterday that this issue should be resolved in October.  My daughter who has a sub account off of mine is able to get into hers.
