Bots keeping my AT&T accounts locked

I believe I've figured out what's going on.  Hopefully this will help other folks.

Once a week, I check my email via WebMail to look for non-spam in the Spam folder (a topic for another time).  And once a week, I get the dreaded "Looks like you've tried to sign-in unsuccessfully too many times....  Care Code 205.2 [LU003]".  The problem is:  This is the FIRST time I tried to sign into my account (either my AT&T account or WebMail) since last week.  I normally get my email via Outlook using a different security mechanism which always works.  So, I go through the reset password procedure and I can access AT&T at least for the day.  Within a few hours to a day or two, I'm locked out again.

I KNOW my email address is out there on the dark web.  I get notifications via identity protection services about it (always using a VERY OLD and invalid password).  I suspect there are bots that are continually attempting to break into my account using these old credentials and consequently, I get locked out.

My advice -- Make sure you have a mobile number associated with your account you can use to reset your password.  AT&T will text you a code before they sent you to a page to create a new password.  Otherwise, you can use your security questions.

My AT&T suggestion:  Maybe use that mobile number to send me a text before you lock out my account.  If I reply "it's not me", refuse further login attempts from that bogus user.

I don't really know what else to do but just put up with what it is.  Sorry for the rant.
