All of a sudden my sbcglobal email doesn't work on my iphone or macbook

All of a sudden my email doesn't work on my iphone or macbook. I am using Mail on both. The error message says to enter the password. I never changed my password to make this happen. I went on att.net and went through the verification process and created a new password. I updated email acct on phone and macbook with new password but neither is working. still getting error. help!

Login at att.com with that email account and password. Go to "Manage Profile", then look for "Create a Secure Mail Key". Create a key, copy it and paste it in place of your password in your mail app. You may need a separate key for each email app.

Have you tried to log in to Currently, when accessing your email via the browser?

 

We recommend that you use that to log in to your email because this is the main site for AT&T email. Also, we suggest that you either use a client that is Oauth compatible or setup a Secure Mail Key. This will be required in order for your email to work properly.

@atthelp I am having the same trouble, maybe worse. Nearly a year ago my sbcglobal.net email stopped working. I had it set up on my phone and PC. It just suddently stopped working on everything. I can no longer log in. When I try it says I have tried unsuccessfully too many times and wants me to verify who I am by answering my security questions. My security questions are easy to answer correctly but it won't accept my answers and it leaves me with no alternative. I'm completely locked out, can't get any support and this was my main personal account tied to so many services I use. I would like to speak to a human being to get help but everything is automated and the support line I call is for ATT and DirectTV. Please, anyone have suggestions?

@snaffie and @ATTHelp had the answer. About a year ago, more secure methods were introduced to log in to email. If you use a less secure method like POP or IMAP, you need to senerate a secure mail key and use that in the old app, or upgrade to a mail reader that support Oauth.

You should be able to reach your mail through the web browser at currently.att.com.

@phillipremaker thanks for the input, but trying it on the currently site won't let me in. I know my password is correct and I know my security question answers but it still won't let me in no matter what I do

Try logging in using an incognito window. There may be some interfering cookies. If the incognito method works, you'll need to clear all your cookies to make it work, but that will log out all your other web accounts.

You can also try with a different browser.

@phillipremaker thank you again for trying to help. I have tried multiple browsers on multiple devices, phones, tablets, incognito etc. I get a Care Code 205.2(LU003) and it says "Looks like you've tried to sign in unsuccessfully too many times. Recover your ID or reset your password to continue."  When I try either of those things it asks my security questions, what was the make and model of my first car. Easy answer. What was the last name of my childhood best friend. Easy answer. But it says my answers don't match and I'm stuck.
