Access to my SBCGLOBAL email account via AT&T Yahoo

Every week I get the below error. I'll be working fine and then it stops all of a sudden. The fix is I have to go through this process to change the password. Are there hack attempts this frequently to my email account to lock it? If so, how can I find out when these are occurring. If not, then what's the issue with your platform? This started about 2 months ago and it's maddening.

Looks like you’ve tried to sign in unsuccessfully too many times. Recover your ID or reset your password to continue.

Well, first off, I'm not Wade651. I saw the post you provided link on and I'd like more of an explanation of what's happening. You saying there are threat actors attempting to get into my email address so it's being locked? How long has this been going on and how much longer do you anticipate it occurring? I'd like more details please.

Thank you

Well, first off, I'm not Wade651

It looks like ATTHelp decided Wade's comment deserved attention while ignoring yours.  Wade must have deleted his comment.

This issue was first reported at the end of October!  In early June ATTHelp finally brought up the "bad actors" explanation.  No idea what they were doing for 8 months but then again, I have no idea why we're still having the issue 2 months later!

The scenario is that the "bad actors" are hammering the login site trying to brute force through the password.  Yahoo locks the account after 6 failed attempts, which is really only a tiny fraction of a second with common hacking tools.

If what we're being told is true and AT&T is not holding back some other pertinent info, then stopping it should be trivial using readily available methods.  Yet, here we are months later still talking about it.

Thank you @tonydi for the explanation. Yes, you'd think a company like AT&T, Yahoo, etc. would have a basic Web Application Firewall or other tools to stop such brute force attacks. This shouldn't take this long to rectify. I'm guessing everyone else is in the same shoes as me in that you're working fine in email and then, suddenly, you're booted out and cannot work until you change your PW again? Lovely experience for a company so large. Perhaps, we'll get an updated ETA to resolution from an AT&T person vs standard web link saying "we are aware of the situation...blah blah" and provide tangible answers to our pain.
