Hi adgorn, we'd be glad to help your friend access his email.
The most common way to regain access to an email account is to reset the password with the forgot password option.
Have him follow these steps:
If he's still not able to sign in, have him reach out to us directly, so we can provide more thorough assistance.

Appreciate your quick response, thank you. He gave me his old email address which he says he can't login to get to. Is there a way to check if this address is actually a valid one?

He can attempt to reset the password to find out if it's valid or not, adgorn.
If it's no longer accessible (for example, if it's been deactivated), he'll have to create a new email account.

OK. And why would an email be deactivated? (His dilemma is that he used that email to create an account for a webhosting service so now he can't log into or change the pword for that hosting acct since he can't get to that email.) Thanks.

Hi, @adgorn.
The reason an email may have been deactivated varies from each person. We would not be able to research that without the email owner reaching out, for authentication purposes.
As previously mentioned, if he is unable to reset the password on that email, have him reach out to us, so we can assist further.
