More junk mail coming to inbox

In the past, I barely had issues with junk mail making its way into my inbox.  However, lately, a lot more junk is coming through.  The filters were really good about catching it.  Has something changed?  This is so annoying!  I have 50 junk mails in my inbox where I barely got an email.

We're here to help with your e-mail, tiggersmom!

Could you clarify with us how you are accessing your e-mails? If you are using a third party application, it could be that the filtering feature changes how e-mails are viewed in your inbox.

Let us know. We hope to hear back from you!

@tiggersmom  🙄 Apparently ATTHelp Matthew has been out on vacation all year and he missed the numerous posts where people are complaining about this.  Here are just a few....

It's not you and certainly not anything on your end no matter how you access your email.  It's Yahoo and clearly they've broken something.  It seemed for a week or so that they'd fixed it but then the flood began again.

There's not much you can do about it.  Some have suggested a piece of software called MailWasher which sits "out front" of your Inbox.

But I always think the best way to avoid this is to abandoned the horrid Yahoo Mail service completely and move to something that actually has real programmers who don't break critical things on a regular basis or allow their entire user database to be compromised multiple times in recent history.

I am accessing my email the same way as I have for the last 20 years, through my computer, through yahoo.com

Thanks for clarifying, @tiggersmom

Like @tonydi stated, this is an ongoing trend. The only recommendation we have is to keep marking them as spam with the spam folder.

If you have any other questions, please let us know. Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.

Well, I hope they get it fixed soon.  It used to be great, seldom got any, now suddenly it's 25-50 a day!

Much worse than just a flood of spam: Many LEGIT messages are getting placed in my spam folder every day.

If you are affected by whatever malfunction is happening with the spam filters, MAKE SURE you are checking your spam folder for legitimate e-mail EVERY TIME you check your mail.

I have used Microsoft Outlook since the late 90's with my AT&T mailbox and have to say the spam issue is getting very bad.

Seems too coincidental that is starting happening when the "Currently" thing appeared.

CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT THEY ALLOW 'BLIND' SENDERS.....NEVER BEFORE!

...and the best part is when you try to filter these spam messages on the actual Yahoo email website - it won't allow me to delete or block or mark as 'spam'...  It's filling up my trash folder on my local client.

ALSO:  don't you think it's odd that Yahoo hosts AT&T's mailboxes.......doesn't VERIZON own Yahoo??

The "Currently" thing is more than a year old now.  So, not a coincidence.

It's not odd that Yahoo hosts AT&T mailboxes because AT&T pays Yahoo to provide the service.  They have for many years, well before Verizon bought them.  VZW sold 90% of its interest in Yahoo over a year ago.

thanks for your msg......

I worked for VERIZON when they purchased Yahoo and they (like Google) love what's in your mailbox........

BTW....the 10% is a very lucrative chunk - it's the email system.......

....now back to what really matters......all of the crap in AT&T mailboxes.......
