Legitimate emails goinf to Spam folder

Would someone explain to me why legitimate emails that were going to my inbox last week are now going to my Spam folder.  I've made no changes to my setup.  This is not the first time I've written about this in this forum.  Would someone with connections forward this to AT&T/Yahoo/Currently or whomever oversees this service.  Contacting AT&T directly about it is apparently not a possible option.

Hey @tgditmer, you've come to the right place to find out what's happening to your emails.

Sometimes the system misidentifies the email and sends it to the Spam Folder. The best way to deal with this is to report these incidents. If a legitimate email is accidentally filtered into the spam folder, it's easy to correct:

  1. Check the box to the left of the email.
  2. Select Not Spam from the email toolbar. The email will be moved to your inbox.

I do this already.  It moves those emails coming to me as Spam.  However, it does not remember that emails from this sender are not spam and continues to put them in the spam folder.  How do I get them to stop going to spam and instead go to my inbox - where they used to originally go until Yahoo/currently/AT&T decided to arbitrarily change this and send them to the spam folder.

Thanks for confirming @tgditmer!

There is certain things that would flag the email as a Spam. These criteria may include the sender's reputation, the email content, the presence of attachments, the email's format, and the recipient's behavior. If an email meets the spam filter's criteria, it's classified as spam and sent to the recipient's spam folder.

Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Still doesn't make sense as nothing has changed with these emails.  And if I mark them as not spam, why doesn't the system remember that and not send them to my spam folder?

Thanks for clarifying @tgditmer!

Due to certain restrictions, the email will incorrectly mark as Spam. The attachments will signal the system to send the email to the other folder. You can report when the emails get sent to Spam to help us track this.

What's the best way to report this?

We're here to assist with emails going to your spam folder, @tgditmer.

You can report legitimate email getting marked to spam at abuse@att.net, so we can further investigate. Make sure you include in the full header "incorrect emails marked as Spam", so we can find out exactly where it came from.

We recommend marking the legitimate emails as not spam. You can unmark as spam with these steps.

  1. Go to your spam folder under inbox folders
  2. Select Not Spam from the email toolbar. The email will be moved to your inbox.

We hope this helps! Please reach out if you have any other questions or concerns.
