Getting spam at att.net

I have an sbcglobal.net email. For the past two weeks, I am getting up to 10 phishing emails a day in my inbox all directed to an att.net email. How can I rectify this?

I'm having the same issue. It is my email address but with att.net instead of sbcglobal.net. I tried to send to the att.net address but i received a reject notice for invalid email address. I don't understand how these emails are getting to my sbcglobal.net account.

Here you go - my real address ends with sbcglobal.net. this email went to my address but with att.net at the end. When i hover over it, it does not reveal a different email address. The spam is coming from everywhere. I thought that maybe the sbcglobal spam filter was translating my "to" address but still sending them through to my real address. Obviously, everyone here is experiencing the same thing. We aren't trying to manage spam, we're trying to understand this email address translation.

I am back to getting unfiltered obvious spam messages back in my inbox. They do not get processed and sent to my spam by whatever tool should be used. As user @jbmcall has stated, we are not trying to manage obvious spam, so @ATTHelp, do something that isn't just replying with the same copy and paste response. I have also forwarded these emails per request as well.

I'm so sick of it I'm about ready to stop using my sbcglobal account. I report the spam and nothing helps, neither does their unsubscribe tool.

I figured out why this is happening. This keeps popping up for me to subscribe to their new service. How annoying. Interesting thing is I have a business account with sbcglobal.net and I haven’t received any spam at all during the last couple months. What a scam.

@cc7372

I believe that is where we are all heading as well.
I thought the same regarding the yahoo+ ad, kind of convenient that I have only ever had to mark a message as spam once or twice a month. And now all of a sudden it was 50+ a day, has come down to ~5 a day. I used to have to go into my spam to find non spam emails more so than mark emails in my inbox as spam.

My sbcglobal.net email account has been virtually spam-free for the 10+ years I have used it. In the last month, I have received--and reported as spam--between 5 and 10 messages a day. Something must have happened.

@jps they are apparently trying to get us to sign up for their premium service, you know, to help with the spam I’ve never had a problem with until now. Very convenient.

It’s been a month now, maybe 6 weeks. Same thing, about 10-20 spam emails a day on my sbcglobal.net email address that I’ve have for about 16 or 17 years that now blow up my inbox. I throw every one into the spam folder and block them. But, to no avail. Ace Hardware, Kohls, McAfee, etc. all phishing emails. So blatantly spam with email and subject as ???????????  ????????? and nothing else. Not an issue with my other email accounts (gmail, etc). Since this email is tied to so many accounts and so many people have this address it will take days to switch everything to another email address before I mute it permanently. So, it appears nothing I can do on my end, ATT or Yahoo (whoever owns the domain now) will need to fix. Just jumping on here to strengthen this thread to get an engineer’s attention (support is all boilerplate).

I’m ready to close down my sbcglobal.net account. I think what I will do is use the forwarding function and have messages sent to my Gmail account, where I am quite confident the spam will not go through! What a disaster this has been!!!!

@Qweppp  I wish there were engineers who were here who could address this situation, but that's not the case.  Even the ATTHelp people here have no control/input since this is all on Yahoo and AT&T stays at arm-length when it comes to their contracted email service.

It's interesting that some of the people at the beginning of this thread said suddenly they stopped getting the inbox spam floods.  They felt that Yahoo fixed (or re-enabled) the filtering.  Yet you and a few others haven't seen anything like that.  I don't know what to make of that.

@jps   You can't forward from sbcglobal.net but if you're going to Gmail they have an Accounts and Import section in their Setttings that will allow Gmail to pull your Yahoo email and contacts over and continue doing that for up to 30 days.  Not sure if that's what you were referring to or not.

Thanks for that tip. I thought there was a forwarding function...

Oh there used to be before Yahoo thought that people would actually pay extra for their crappy service.  The forwarding option is now part of the paid package.
