Getting spam at att.net

I have an sbcglobal.net email. For the past two weeks, I am getting up to 10 phishing emails a day in my inbox all directed to an att.net email. How can I rectify this?

Evidently, nobody can get rid of the spam/phishing on sbcglobal emails, dobbswhit.  It's been going on for at least 5-6 months.  All the complaints have not made a difference.  I've had to stop using the sbcglobal and it upsets me.  I had it the account since 2004 and was pleased with it until this started. The only reason I had MS Office was for MS Outlook.  Now, it's been unusable.

I forward all my spam to abuse@att.net.  Yes, I know they already know but the more they hear from us the more pressure it creates.

@Nkstav I am doing the same thing, they like spam, give it to them.

Commenting here as I see this is an old thread. I'm experiencing the same issues, after carrying the same att.net email address for over a decade and now the spam emails have become completely out of control. I'm getting 20-30+ spam emails a day and not sure what to do. All the blocking and marking as spam has had zero effect.

@normaldad What I am using is Thunderbird email client and I can set up a filter that sees the spam and then I forward it to abuse@att.net and then delete it - should be able to do this with yahoo, but they are trying to sell their junk mail filter that doesn't work.

I can't believe I didn't think of this earlier. I setup a filter last night that has kept all spam email from my inbox today. The Spam folder has collected more than it used to, but still a lot were getting through to my inbox. I created a filter that if From does not contain @ then send the mail to Trash. All of this recent junk email is coming from a blank account, so this traps it. I wanted to send it to Spam, but it didn't seem to be an option. If I type in "Spam" as the folder name, it creates a separate folder with that name. I've been monitoring it all day, and all real email has gone to my inbox, and all spam mail that isn't going to Spam is going to Trash.

What email client are you using?

Maybe att/yahoo should look at your post and resolve this for all users

Thank you!

I have followed your suggestion and will let you know if it works for me as well.

All the previous filters that I have set up seemed to have stopped working.

@jwmusser, thanks.  Except for one message the @ filter caught the rest (about 10).  I'll keep track of the ones that get through and maybe figure out a filter for them.

Your suggestion caught all the spam this evening in each of my two accounts!!  Thank you again.

I will see if this continues to work as it  seems as if the spammers keep changing things to avoid the traps/nets we set up.  This may be Yahoo's problem.

Also I have noticed that the spam seems to be heaviest during working hours and during the week.

Thank you jwmusser! I set up that filter last night and so far it's worked on all the spam that's come in. I usually get 20-30 a day, with most of them landing in my inbox. Fingers crossed that it continues to work.
