email problems

I have been having numerous problems with email for several weeks. I have tried different browsers, cleared cache, etc. I log in through server.

Logging in is nightmare. Keeps circling to "logout successful" and have to keep trying over and over. Emails will not refresh. Have to sign out and sign back in to get latest ones. Get error messages that email can't be shown. Error messages email can't be saved. Folders saying empty although not empty, but can't access without signing out and back in and hope.

I have seen most of these problems mentioned in other posts but no solutions provided.

I have had the same email for over 22 years and I have had all the same problems you have had which only started 2 weeks ago. I am going to have to change my email. I can not help but think that is exactly what ATT or Yahoo wants us to do. This is just completely unbelieveable!

If you're having problems with getting your email to work, you may want to some troubleshooting steps to see if that fixes the issue. Here's a few things you can do:

  • If you're not already, try signing in using Currently directly instead of using an app. This will help determine whether the issue is with your account directly or not.
  • Clear Cache and Cookies - A very common fix.

  • Update Your Browser - many features are only compatible with the latest browser and we recommend updating it.

  • Test signing in to your webmail using another browser.

  • Disable browser tools or add-ons - varies by device and browser.

  • Disable your firewall - varies by device and browser.

If you're still having email issues after that, please let us know and we'll be more than happy to see what other options we can provide.

I use Currently to log in to sbcglobal.net

I have cleared my cache and cookies.

I have the latest chrome update.

And I just updated to Windows 11. 

I check to keep me logged in for 2 weeks.

Doesn't matter it is timing out. 

Once it times out, all functionality is gone. 

I just looked to update Java and here is the message I see 

Chrome no longer supports NPAPI (technology required for Java applets)

The Java Plugin for web browsers relies on the cross-platform plugin architecture NPAPI, which had been supported by all major web browsers for over a decade. Google's Chrome version 45 and above have dropped support for NPAPI, and therefore Java Plugin do not work on these browsers anymore.

Java applications are offered through web browsers as either a web start application (which do not interact with the browser once they are launched) or as a Java applet (which might interact with the browser). This change does not affect Web Start applications, it only impacts applets.

Developers and System administrators looking for alternative ways to support users of Chrome should see this blog regarding Launching Web Start applications.

Correct - today was just a disaster all day. I shouldn't have to shut down my firewall. But I am trying that but that just seems wrong. The whole point is that all these problems have just started in the last 2-3 weeks when I have used the email successfully for 22 years. What is the change?

We appreciate you letting us know you tried the steps Jarod provided, and have a couple of follow-up questions:

  1. Are you able to access your email on other devices? Sometimes devices need an update before it will fully load emails or webpages.
  2. Are you receiving any error codes? Some errors can be caused by heavy traffic, but usually resolve within a few hours.
  3. Are you able to browse the internet with other devices on different sites? If there's an issue with the internet connectivity, it could cause a disruption in your email.

Did you participate on DM - Direct Messaging. That is how I got my problem resolved. After a wait for a supervisor, my account was re-synced

and that solved it for quite a while. I learned that when you change your password, your account will reset itself. My email started acting up again, so I changed my password, so far so good. But it took me forever to find how and where to change my password.  I don't know why AT&T or yahoo.com has to be so freaking complicated!
