Thanks for coming back, rmgrams. We appreciate it.

According to the information that we have about the email address/contact predictive fill in, is that it is not actually a part of the webmail service. That means that AT&T or Yahoo is not able to support it. That feature, is actually a part of the browser itself. AT&T/Yahoo only supports the contact address book fill in from the list. However, after some troubleshooting of our own, we have come up with a possible solution or workaround that may help you out.  Try these steps:

  1. Log out of your webmail.
  2. Log back in to your webmail.
  3. Over on the right, click on switch to "Classic Mail"
  4. After the page changes, click on the "Compose Button"
  5. Try the predictive email address fill in.
  6. If it works here, then click on the "Switch to new AT&T/Yahoo".
  7. When the page refreshes again, delete the draft email.
  8. Press "Compose" again
  9. Try the predicive email address fill in once more.

Try this to see if it brings the feature back. Again, that feature is not a part of the webmail. The only feature that AT&T/Yahoo does support is the email address fill in from the contact/address book.

Please update us.

We'd be glad to help you with your missing contacts, rmgrams.

Let's troubleshoot your email using the following options from our Login and Email Solutions guide:

  • Clear your browser's cache and cookies - This is the most common fix. Sites change over time, and when that happens, the files saved in your cache and cookies may conflict with what is actually coded on the site. Clearing it out ensures that your browser is using the settings designed for the website. Also, if your cache is set to occupy a lot of your computer space, the computer may get bogged down due to all hard drive space being occupied.
  • Update your browser - Many features are only compatible with the latest browser, so we recommend updating it.
  • Test signing in to your webmail using another browser - A different browser may perform better than the one you're currently using.
  • Disable browser tools or add-ons - Tools and add-ons can sometimes cause browsers to run slowly and crash. You can turn off specific add-ons to help increase your browsing speed.
  • Disable your firewall - Running more than one firewall at a time may cause slow Internet connection speeds. Most AT&T provided gateways are equipped with built-in firewalls, so you might not need your operating system firewall.

If you still need help, let us know what email platform you're using, so we can better help you troubleshoot.

All Contacts are present, but the search for contacts does not recognize any of them.  It reports "no matching contacts".

I have cleared the cookies and cache data.

Tried Chrome in place of Firefox.

Cleared any firewalls.

Disabled all add-ons.

Same issue remains.  Address bar of email will not populate unless I select the contacts email address in "All" contacts.  Contact search reports "no matching contacts".

Thanks for getting back to us, rmgrams.

What website are you using to access your email? We recommend Currently, as it's the official website for AT&T mail.

Yes, this has resolved the issue.  My contacts are now predictive on compose, the "search" of contacts is functional as well.  This is an effective solution, though I had to adjust some details on my screen choices, but composed a draft on a"basic mail" which keyed the return of contacts, switched to new ATT mail and all is well.      Thank you for your insights.

Thanks for coming back, rmgrams

We are so glad that what we gave you as a workaround has returned the predictive email/contact fill-in and search back to normal.

If there is anything else that we can do for you, please let us know.
