Sending email via SMTP with Uverse

It should, since you're using SSL and port 465.  If you were using port 25, then the answer would be "no," at least by default.

Thanks. That's been one of the main things keeping me from converting to Uverse.

AT&T (like many ISP's) blocks SMTP traffic on port 25 except to their own SMTP servers.

You'll need to use an SMTP server that supports SSL on another Port (Like Gmail does).

If I remember back in the Bellsouth.net days, a few people posted on DSLreports.com that they were able to "Relay" through the bellwouth SMTP servers, but I have no proof of that.  Just vague claims I remember from 10+ years ago.

Thanks... I found an article on here somewhere that said I had to change the port to 587 and include my entire email address and password... after a little stumbling around I was able to make it work.  This community is great, but not sure I'm gonna like the AT&T support...

If AT&T Support were great, you wouldn't need this community.

We rely on ATT Customer Care and Uverse Care here.

This is not the regular CS/TS phone people, but the social media Community Specialists that know the people to contact to get things done and gone above and beyond for me.

I am very disapointed at ATT for now wanting to charge customer for SMTP Port unblocking requests. The Tech ask for 49.00 or a 15.00 subscription for something you do not need. All they need to explain is to:

Instead of using port 25 for your SMTP Mail client Configuration, use port 587 which should work.
