Process to forward emails from sbcglobal.net account to office365

AT&T uses Yahoo! to handle the webmail interface, and this includes settings.  Unfortunately, the forwarding option is an extra cost option with Yahoo! Mail+, so in order to automatically forward your e-mail, it looks like you'd have to subscribe to the Yahoo! Mail+ service for as long as you wish to forward your e-mail to the new address.

Go to https://currently.com click on the mail icon, then you can click on the Yahoo! Mail+ to get information about subscribing.  You can click on Settings  > More Settings, Mailboxes, and your e-mail address in order to change settings.

@stsebero  So if your company has Microsoft 365 hosted email you need to contact Microsoft.  They have a migration tool for doing exactly this and it works great.  It will actually move what's there and continue to pull over anything new until you tell it to stop.  They should be able to run it for you, or if you get a lazy support person, they'll at least point you to the tool and instructions.

We've been using these types of tools for the different places we've been buying (I say we like it's my money), but had not run across a place running off this type of personal accounts prior. Normally they have some infrastructure to move over - which bittitan or the like was fine for. I'll give them the options - and thank you for taking a moment to provide me with another option.

We have tried several times to process the upgrade, but it did not go through. At the Yahoo Plus checkout page, the error message said "It's not you, it's us. But we're working on our issues. Come back soon." It has been weeks, same result. Will someone at AT&T or Yahoo be able to help, it is very urgent we need to migrate to other mail server.

@bagginsinc   So the upgrade to Yahoo Plus doesn't work?   Shocker!

What "other mail server" are you trying to migrate to?  Forwarding email isn't exactly the greatest way to move mail to a new service.

Clunky, but in our case, continuity until the 'new' service is what the old customers are using vs. losing the traffic from the old and established address. We usually keep the old accounts live for 6 months while monitoring and adjusting customer behavior (and redirecting to new corp accounts. For the really tiny mom+pop acquisitions, we have little choice - they mix in business and personal freebie accounts when they first start out.

@tonydi Thank you for your message. We have a new account at Office 365, we plan to use forwarding emails from SbcGlobal to Office 365. The forwarding feature is only available for Yahoo Plus. Seems simple, but do not know why getting stuck on the checkout page.

@bagginsinc   The forwarding might work for new emails but is a disaster if you want to bring over all of the existing email.

An alternative that you might want to explore is to set up Outlook to pull mail from the sbcglobal account using IMAP.  You'll need to create a Secure Mail Key to use instead of the password in Outlook.

That will bring over all the existing email in whatever folders you have set up at Yahoo.  Then you can manually just copy/paste or drag/drop from the sbcglobal account folders in Outlook to the folders in the Outlook 365 account.  Then the IMAP sync will push those old sbcglobal emails up to the Microsoft servers.
