A contractor who works for AT&T is scamming people & robbing them
You have a guy named R$*# Price who is a 47 yr old caucasion man about 5'9" shaved head, black stubby teeth & very skinny who is going into neighborhoods scamming people. He told me that for 700 dollars he would set up direct tv through AT&T & I could have unlimited direct tv cable for a year. My sons friend told me he paid the money & it was a legit hustle & he now has a package discount that knocks about 1000 dollars off what it would cost through AT&T directly & it sounded like an excellent deal. My neighbor fell for the scam as well, but she paid him in cash directly. I was in the hospital for a week & he was so eager to get me on board that he came to my room to offer me this deal. I however paid him through GreenDot bill pay. I put the payment through on the 21st & GreenDot scheduled the 30th for the payment to be funded to R$*# Price. He was supposed to come by on the 30th to install myself & my neighbor. He never showed up & has been unreachable by phone. I know that we weren't being very forthright in accepting this crooked deal, but with the pandemic we have had no cable at all because of the high prices & this seemed like something very harmless from the way he presented it. I will attatch the bank receipt of payment with this email. If R$*# doesnt give me back my money I will go to the media & let them know what your contractors are doing to vulnerable old people who are barely getting by financially. Hopefully somebody higher up who cares about the reputation of AT&T will take action before I contact the police & the media. Im sure we aren't the only people he's scammed. My sons friend has his direct tv package that he paid 700 for as well, but he's a younger gentleman & I think R$*# only robs from seniors because me & my neighbor is an elderly woman & I'm not officially a senior, but I'm in very poor health & not as much of a threat as a young man in his 20s is. My son said not to use the persons name because my note will be in public view so if you feel like this is something you'd like more info on I can be reached anytime through email or phone. Does this happen regularly because R$*# says hes been installing these kinds of under the table deals for the public as long as he's worked for AT&T. R$*# is not a good representor of AT&T & I hope this isn't something that AT&T looks the other way in regards to. There are so many scams going on right now so as older single women we are very dedicated avoiding these types of predators, but with the name of AT&T/direct t.v. we trusted in this seemingly harmless way to save a few dollars & became vulnerable victims of this conartist.

Please contact the appropriate authorities, such as the police, to report fraud.

Yes of course I am going to the police. I just thought that AT&T would be a bit more concerned than they were when I called to inform them. The first phone representative told me unless I have a direct tv account she couldn't assist me. The second csr said I needed to call back tomorrow. I'm not gonna chase this company down to report this man. My granddaughter looked him up on her phone & he has been convicted of stealing money from the community & spent many years in prison for these same types of moneygrabbing crimes. If AT&T is ok letting him have access to the public so he can use their name to gain victims, then AT&T is just as guilty.

The AT&T support organization exists to assist customers with issues with their service or billing. They cannot handle unscripted issues, and this is definitely off their script.

Thank you for reaching out. We'd like to look into this. Please send us a Direct Message on ATT Help Twitter or a Private Message at AT&T Facebook with more information, such as your full name, best contact number and address, as well as the full name and/or ID of the employee in question. Thank you!
