SLOW SPEED...NOT GETTING WHAT I AM PAYING FOR
I don't understand why I am paying for 18mbps and I am averaging 6 to 10 mbps everytime I run a speed test. Then I call customer service and they do something and I run a speed test and get 11.7 mbps and they tell me that is acceptable. Why am I not paying for the 12mbps plan. I use to work for ATT DSL and this has been a complaint for years. I can't cancel service because I am in a contract, but believe me, once my contract is up....I am gone!!

Having the same issue since I switched from Xfinity... I'm paying for 45MB down, but usually get 10-20MB and 45 sometimes on good days. This is very very painful if you are a cord cutter, because the streams suffering severe stuttering.

Many cable and service providers use language like "up too xx mb download speeds" this covers them legally when the customer doesn't get the advertised speeds they are paying for. On many occasins you are sharing the same service bank as your neighbors and will never get the speed your paying for as your all using the same shared bandwidth.

Well poops. Never had to deal with constant speed issues on Comcast, ah well... guess I take slow speed for 2 years and save some money vs Comcast with reliable 75MB down but insane prices.

Be thankful, OP. I pay for 48 mbps from AT&T and get under 100k!

Latency is in the quadruple digits, so no online gaming either. AT&T-specific tests giving in the 1.8 - 1.9 mbps. A far cry from the 48 on my subscription. Called tech support several times when I need to upload a presentation or do something else imperative for work and cannot make it to the local coffee shop for internet (yes, I pay for 48mbps broadband at home and make regular trips to the local coffee shop for faster internet access). Every excuse in the book other than the fact that I am sharing bandwidth with an entire subdivision of people subscribing to overloaded broadband network.
Just power cycle your gateway. It won't speed up your internet access, but it will give you 3-4 minutes of taking your mind off waiting for pages to load while you think you are fixing the problem.
