I am paying more money for internet than I agreed to, and every representative I talk to gives me a different answer

Let me preface this story, I got the AT&T 300 Mbps internet plan for my new apartment. The rate I was promised was somewhere around $60/mo. to have the internet with a data cap at 300 Gb, but I was told I would get the $10 monthly equipment fee waived. Well they had not waived the equipment fee, so I called customer service to dispute this. They said they waived it, and I believe them. I called around a month later (after they charged me again) to dispute the bill, and one of the representatives told me that he would get me a deal where the total bill would be $49 (this is after all taxes; i.e. the total amount I would pay) and I would have unlimited bandwidth on the internet and I would get the basic package of TV. I don't even need TV, but the cheaper rate sounded really good so I said yes. I asked this man four times, "The total amount I will pay is $49, correct?" I kept asking this question because I did not want to pay more money for something I don't need.

Fast forward to now, my bill is now $73.25 (which is the almost $25 more than was said previously). According to another representative, this is the $59 package with $14.25 in taxes. Definitely not what I agreed to! They keep giving me a different story, and this time I am told that the original deal I was offered expired back in December when I first got AT&T internet service. How convenient! But there is a silver lining, I got $25 of credit for my troubles. I am still getting overcharged each month, but the $25 band-aid is supposed to help. After the 1 year term, I will have paid over $250 more than what I agreed to, and with a baby on the way this makes a huge dent in my budget.

Unless something happens, I will not be returning to AT&T for ANYTHING in the future. I have to abide by the contract because I don't want to pay the $180 charge to cancel it. Has anyone else experienced this type of problem within AT&T?
