Car Wifi

I just signed up for the unlimited monthly internet data plan for my car and it works well when I'm in the car and the car is running. As soon as I turn the car off, the wifi is not discoverable (address is nowhere to be found). I want to use my car as a hotspot when we're camping and don't want to have sit in the car with it running to do so. Do I need a wifi extender hooked into the car (OBDII) in order to use the car wifi when I'm not sitting directly in the running car? I really hope it's possible to not have to start/run the car or be in it to use wifi .... or else it would be pretty useless to me. I have a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee if that helps.

If anyone can tell me how to work around this, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

(866) 595-0010 Call this number for customer support for connected car. After speaking with them, if it’s not possible you can change your ATT cell phone plan. ATT has unlimited data with hotspot for each device on your cellphone plan. You can use your cell phone for hotspot while camping.

@Constructive I have a 2014 Chevrolet and it's considered a "feature" for the radio to remain on for 10 minutes after the car is turned off and the key removed. It turns off once the drivers door is open.

The retained accessory power (RAP) system allows specific vehicle functions to operate for a specific amount of time after the ignition switch is turned OFF. The BCM monitors the ignition switch position, battery condition, and each door open/closed status to determine whether RAP should be initiated or terminated.

Some genius engineer decided that enough people want to sit and listen to a song after you've parked (yes, I found that on Google).

@skeeterintexas lol yep it would be nice if they gave a menu feature to keep the wifi on for an extended time however the signal is limited and designed to be used inside the vehicle, my key has to be on in my hellcat but engine doesnt need to be running
