WiFi Extender Disconnects
My Linksys WiFi extender started to disconnect on a regular basis a couple of weeks ago after several years of good service, so I purchased a new Netgear AC1220. Now does the same thing, disconnecting within minutes of setup. My gateway is a PACE 5268AC. Multiple calls to both Netgear and ATT resulted in finger pointing in both directions.

How long have you had the 5268AC? I've seen Wi-Fi radios wear out after years of use, especially if they've been using high power output. Unless your extenders are wired (making them access points instead of extenders), then they need good Wi-Fi operation out of the 5268AC to operate.

This gateway is only a couple of years old. I have tested the extender in THE SAME ROOM as the gateway and it still disconnects!

"only a couple"? I've had consumer access points used in business settings that wore out in 12-18 months.
