Why can't I get fiber on my street when it appears to be everywhere else in this area?

According to the FCC maps ATT fiber isn't available in a small section of my neighborhood.  Can anyone help me find out why we don't have access?  Or what we could do to change that?  It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to connect us to 500 ft away.

We are happy to see your interest in our Fiber Internet @ipacton336,

Here is a great resource that will assist with seeing What’s Going on with Fiber.

A couple key items to keep in mind:

  • Distance– AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service, but your home cannot.
  • Equipment is not available– To get service, AT&T Internet equipment has to be in the area. In some instances, it isn't. We do not have information if or when it will be.
  • The area is not built for U-verse– some areas are not U-verse ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be. Distance and equipment can play a key in instances like this.

Please let us know if this helps.

Thank you for your response.  I understand those general limitations, but not specifically why our street has been excluded from the fiber access that the rest of the community surrounding us has.

Who makes these decisions and how can I get in touch with them about my specific situation?

At&t fiber lines are in my ally behind me, but the website says at&t fiber is not available for my address. What's up with that?

We're here to help provide you information on when Fiber will be available, Kay1953!

There can be multiple reasons why Fiber isn't available yet, such as the following:

  1. Distance – AT&T Internet is a distance-dependent service. If you are too far away from the equipment, certain services may not be available. This means your neighbor may have service but your home cannot.

  2. Equipment is not available – To get service, AT&T Internet equipment has to be in the area. In some instances, it isn't. We do not have information if or when it will be.

  3. The area is not built for U-verse – some areas are not U-verse ready. The Community team does not have information if or when it will be. Distance and equipment can play a key in instances like this.

  4. Another competitor services there area - This happens from time to time but it does not mean all services are not available to you. Check out other internet options below!

We are still in the process of expanding the network to provide the most coverage to our customers. You can access our Coverage Map where you can check availability at your address. Otherwise, you can fill out an address research request form, and we will notify you when Fiber is available at your location.

If you have any further questions, please create a new thread so we can give you personalized assistance. This thread is two years old and subject to being closed at any time. Thank you for being a part of our AT&T Community!

I have an AT&T fiber pole at the end of my driveway. A fiber termination point across the street, but I am only offered 18 Meg bonded DSL.

I have Comcast, but they seem to think 900 down/25 up is a good plan. My cloud backups are so slow.

I'd take 300/300 in a heartbeat.

So distance is NOT my issue. Any thoughts?

I'm in the same situation. I'm a Uverse customer and fiber is available on both sides of my address on the same street and I cannot get it. Seems odd to me. But every time I try to contact ATT about it, I just get the same script.
