Ordered ATT fixed wireless internet, never received

I ordered ATT fixed wireless internet 10 days ago and was told I'd be contacted within 72 hours to schedule install. Was never contacted. Call 800 number to try and get it scheduled and no one has ever heard of fixed wireless internet and is totally clueless. I just need the equipment sent to my address I can install it...

ATT Fixed Wireless is installed by a DirecTv tech not an ATT employee tech.

Involves installing an antenna aimed to an assigned cell tower using 4G LTE Band 30 signal. Running cat5e or greater from the antenna to the gateway location and installing the gateway. The product has a 350G data cap. Installation is $99.

The other possible product may be referring to is ATT AIR, no antenna, no wiring, no installation charge. You’re shipped the equipment and place in or near window that provides the strongest signal.

But you state someone would within 72 hours to schedule appointment means Fixed Wireless with DirecTv calling to schedule your appointment with their tech.

Sounds like I ordered fixed wireless, but should have ordered the "air". First I have heard of the latter, but sounds like a much better fit. I'm within 1/8 mile of a brand new tower. There's only 300 people in my town. My cell phone gets 160 or more Mbps speeds.

Internet Air is essentially a replacement for the Fixed Wireless product as it previously existed.  The antenna is internal to the Gateway, not mounted on the outside of your home.  However, I think AT&T must have sufficient 5G coverage on your home, whereas the Fixed Wireless used LTE (and thus had LTE requirements instead of 5G).  I expect that they are probably about to sunset the Fixed Wireless if they haven't

So, yeah, try Internet Air.  But if you do get Internet Air, please come back and be our expert, because none of the regulars here has it.  We have the installation guides and videos and stuff that's online, but no more than that.

already started.

I'd also say the use of DIRECTV installers for Fixed Wireless was a regional thing, not all regions worked that way.

I called them today and absolutely refuse to send me the equipment for the AIR. I live in a town of 300 but we have a two year old tower and I get 160+ Mbps on my cell phone. But because my address isn't in their list of approved areas they won't work with me.

That's the way it is with new product rollouts; you have to be where they want to turn up service.  To be fair, they may need to run more diagnostics and stuff on the towers that are rolling out Air and they might want to limit the scope of that.  Here's hoping that's part of the reason (and they're running diags, etc. to learn what works and doesn't).
