Why is my land line not operatonal when Uverse is not operational?

Why is it that my land line is dead when my computer is unplugged or my power is off.  In the past, if I lost electric power, my land line still was operational.  Is there a remedy to this?  I am not comfortable when my land line is not operational

@davi4788   Did you happen to change to Uvoice?  That is VOIP (voice over Internet protocol), not old POTS landline.  Have to leave the RG plugged in for it to work, if no battery backup, goes out when power does. Smiley Surprised
