Ping spikes constantly
Every 5 minutes or so doesn’t matter the game I get huge lag spikes of over 1000 on my ps4. I use to ignore it because it went away for a few months but now it’s back and even worse. I cant play a game without losing because of the lag. I’ve tried rebooting my router and even tried many YouTube “remedies” and none seem to work. Can someone help me fix or find out why I lag so hard with AT&T Uverse? I’m starting to feel like I should switch to xfinity…

Is your PS4 connected via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable? If Wi-Fi, can you get an Ethernet connection?
Do you have any way to find out what the server name is for your PS4 game?
Do you have any other devices that you can run traceroutes or pings on?
Have you tried turning off IPv6 on your Gateway?

It’s connected via wifi, the router is in another room not close enough for Ethernet cable but it’s fairly close. And how do I turn off IPV6 on my gateway?

To turn off IPv6:
Wi-Fi can introduce latency, especially when the Access Point/Router decides to change channels to avoid interference or just from occasional interference. Especially in an apartment or a dense housing development, access points can constantly shift channels in an effort to avoid the channels used by other access points nearby. Wired Ethernet avoids these issues entirely.

You can force the gateway to stay on a fixed channel provided you do a site survey and know what channels are being used.
But frankly trying to game over WiFi from an Att gateway is, pardon the pun, a losing proposition.
