no option to change to 5ghz in home network wifi options
Hello! I have been trying to change my wifi ghz from 2.4ghz to 5ghz but when I go to home network wifi options it only tells me that the wifi is on 2.4ghz and their is no option to switch to 5 ghz and no wifi interface to chose from. Am i missing something or doing something wrong? thank you

What gateway do you have? All of the recently issued AT&T Gateways use the same SSID for 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz out of the box. To make the SSIDs different so that you can connect to one band specifically, you have to click the "Advanced Options" on the Wi-Fi page.

Hey @shroomgoom. We'd be happy to help with your home Wi-Fi network and your settings.
We appreciate @JefferMC for providing that information about our Wi-Fi settings.
We recommend that you check out our page on how to change your wireless channel on an NVG. There you'll find steps on how to properly access yout 5GHz wireless channel.
Please let us know if these steps help.

Now that I see that you have an NVG589, I see your problem. The NVG589 doesn't have a 5 GHz radio. You'll likely want to talk to ATTHelp or someone in the call center about upgrading to a more recent Gateway.

Thank you @JefferMC for your input and @ATTHelp for the steps! I did the steps on the 'change your wireless channel on an NVG' and I unfortunately still cant find the 5ghz option, should I buy a newer router?

I’m not sure there’s a comprehension problem here. The gateway you have @shroomgoom lacks the 5GHz radio feature, and you can’t buy your own device to put on Att’s network. Call Att and see what they can do for you.
