Mesh system producing slow/inconsistent speeds
Hello, I have been trying to set up a new wifi mesh system to improve coverage in my house. However, the speeds I am getting from this new network are inconsistent and usually very slow. Occasionally, the speeds will rebound to where they should be, but this is infrequent and unpredictable. The coverage across my house does seem to have improved greatly so I think the mesh system is doing its job, but I think there is some issue with the gateway. When I try to test the gateway speeds I pretty consistently get an error message, but I am not sure if this is related to the installation of the mesh router since the problem started after installation.
Equipment
Gateway model: 5268AC
Mesh Router: Tp-Link Deco M4R
Installation steps taken
Router placed in DMZplus mode and wifi network from gateway disabled.
Any help would be appreciated.

There's a speed test in the Deco, right? What does the Deco speed test show? That test is displaying the speed of the connection between the Pace gateway and the Deco, so that's the max you can get from a device connected to the Deco.
What is your speed plan from AT&T?
Finally, if you have the Smart Home Manager app, what does the speedtest show in that app? That shows the speed from the Pace to AT&T, so we should be able to see where the speed is getting lost. Theoretically, the two speed tests should be close to the same since you have the two units wired together.
