I have U-Verse now - but do I still need my phone landline and Voice?

I rather would buy myself an AT&T cell phone than keeping my landline.

U-verse is installed and running at my place.

One day, U-verse and the phone were both down for a few hours. I was unable to make a call and I live not close to any real civilization. That put me in a strange spot.  

If I terminate AT&T voice and my AT&T land line phone service, will I am still able to receive U-verse?
