How do I view current U-verse internet data usage?

Hi, I'm relatively new to U-verse and I was wondering how I can see my most up-to-date internet data usage?  Apologies if this is already out here somewhere - I looked for a few minutes and all I could find was how to locate your *wireless* data usage.

Thanks for your help!

Although both Uverse Internet and DSL Internet have caps of 250 GB and 150 GB respectively, AT&T is currently only inflicting enforcing the caps on DSL Internet customers. So there is no official place for Uverse customers to go to view their data usage.

The are utilities you can install on your computer to track your data usage.

That doesn't include the zillion movies I watch on netflix.    So it doesn't cover all the other LAN devices on the customer premise such as smart tv, roku, tablets, smart phones over wifi, etc.

If ATT monitors usage to catch users going on the max limit, then why can't they provide those numbers via the customer portal.     They are accumulating the usage figures already.  How else do they implement maximums.

So the user has to just use it and if presents a problem, i.e. you exceed the 250GB/month for most the max DSL service, they will tell you and just don't worry about it before then.

The frustrating part is that the agents are clueless and don't know to tell customers, we don't export that information to the customer portal, so there's no way to find out now.

I received the following email. I am a U Verse customer. According to this information the data caps will be enforced beginning next month. The caps will also have additional $10 charges for every 50gigs over in usage. Having said this, how do we know whether or not to spend $30 extra a month for unlimited data? Where can we get our current data usage information? Is there a reason this is now going to be enforced and have additional charges? Any help is greatly appreciated. A concerned customer.

Dear J,

Beginning on May 23, 2016 we will be increasing the U-verse® Internet data allowance for many customers. After a grace period, and as our agreement provides, there's a $10 charge for each 50GB of data you use over the allowance amount. If you choose to bundle your U-verse Internet with DIRECTV®or U-verse TV you will be provided an unlimited Internet data allowance with a $30 value at no additional charge, as a benefit of bundling. Or if you choose, an unlimited allowance is available for purchase as an optional bolt-on to your Internet service.

After May 23, 2016 log in to your account at att.com/myatt to find helpful tools to view your data usage. Questions? Go to att.com/internet-usage.

Thank you for being a loyal U-verse customer,

AT&T

Will uverse tv and directv customers be able to see our usage even though we are exempt from the caps? It would be nice to know how much data we use outside of tv services.

@Iplant   This is how you'll know if you go over the new data cap (300G 6M Internet and below or 600G 12M-100M Internet).  From the blog posting.

In fact, we will send you 7 notices via email over several months before you need to purchase this additional data, as follows:

  • In the first bill cycle when you reach 100% of your data allowance, we’ll update you via email, but there will be no charges.
  • In the second bill cycle, we will notify you via email at 65%, 90%, and 100%, and still without charges.
  • In the third bill cycle, and each bill cycle thereafter, you’ll receive reminder emails at 65% and 90%. At 100% we will notify you and add an additional 50 GB of data to your account for $10 each time you exceed the allowance. Customers will receive reminders about their data usage for the additional 50GB at 75% and 100%. The maximum monthly overage charge is $100.

I've actually done a breakdown on each cap what users can use and not go over here:

It's pretty hilarious that they're going to cap the usage but they won't reveal how much we're using. I mean, one guy spells out how ridiculous that is and the poor AT&T rep has to repeat that peppy but pointless reply that points back to the blog where the information is not available. That's some classic MaBell stuff right there.

@markpants  See my post here that breaks it down by usage, then check your own on the calculator link there:

I am wondering what my data usage is and if I go over whatever my limit is. I am on a fixed income and if there is a possibility that I'm going to be charged extra I will have to get rid of my wifi.
