We're here to help with your Wi-Fi connection, @Derome49!

Do you experience this even after restarting the gateway? Doing this can refresh your connection and sometimes alleviate connectivity issues.

You can reset your gateway with these steps:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the back of your gateway or modem. If you have:
    • An internal battery backup, remove it
    • DSL, unplug the phone cord from your modem or gateway
  2. Wait 20 seconds.
  3. Put the internal battery back in if you have one.
  4. Plug the power cord back in. If you have DSL service, reconnect the phone cord.
  5. Wait for the gateway or modem to restart and your Broadband light to turn solid green. This can take up to 10 minutes.

Along with those steps, can you let us konw if you are experiencing this with any other devices connected via Wi-Fi? This will help us identify if it's just an issue with your device or the internet equipment itself.

Thanks for your response...

I unplugged the modem and waited 20 seconds and plugged it back in and still no connection.  The wifi works on my TVS but will not connect to the playstation 4

Hi there, Derome49. Thanks for coming back.

Since the Wi-Fi is working on the TV's, but the PlayStation 4 is not, let's concentrate our focus there.

According to our Internet and Wi-Fi Troubleshooting for a Single Device – Solutions & Help, forums article, there are some causes on what could've happened. Let's look at those:

  • A damaged device– did you drop your device? You could have damaged the internal Wi-Fi radio.
  • Did you recently download a software update? It could have affected the software that helps your device connect.
  • Wrong password? It happens.
  • Too many electronics around your TV or smart device? The more devices you have, the more interference that affects Wi-Fi
  • Are you too far away from your modem? The further away you are, the weaker the signal gets
  • A process running on your device that may be causing this
  • Sometimes there is no reason, it just happens

One of the best ways that we can start troubleshooting a single device, is by restarting your Wi-Fi network. You have already restarted the router, so we can skip that. By using the Smart Home Manager, you can refresh your Wi-Fi network by selecting, Network, and then Restart Wi-Fi Network to complete.

Once that is done, then restart your PlayStation4. You may have to re-enter the Wi-Fi username and password.

Try that and get back to us.

@Derome49

I don’t have a PS4 here, but there shouldn’t be a need to proxy anything.  WiFi range is limited so be aware of that.
