AT&T Slow Wi-Fi - Fixes & Things to Know
First, let's try some fast fixes to speed up your Wi-Fi.
- Reset the modem
- Move electronics away from the modem
- Turn off devices not in use
If the above does not work, try the following:
Optimize your settings
- Sign in to Smart Home Manager
- Once signed in, scroll to the "Let's Scan for Better Wi-Fi"
- Select "Scan Now"
Smart Home Manager will find the best channel. If you want to manually sign in to the modem to test channels on your own, check out the following:
- Update your radio
Helpful Hint: Each home is different so you may need to test a few channels.
Does your plan support all your devices?
With the Smart Home Manager, you'll find your internet plan and the number of devices connected. Time for some math:
Dividing your plan by the number of devices connected should equal at least 7Mbps
If your math shows that each device gets 1-5 Mbps, consider upgrading.
How Many Devices Are Connected?
There are a lot of people home right now, this will impact your internet speeds if everyone is online. Each device shares a portion of your internet signal. This means you may see issues gaming or streaming which is normal if you do not have a plan that can support it. How many devices do you have connected?
