Using 3rd Party Router with UVerse - DVR Connected via Ethernet
So I have been dissatisfied with AT&T's gateway as a router and purchased a Netgear R8000 Tri-Band Router. I am finding myself having issues getting things setup. Current Setup is as follows: Port 1 of Gateway to Ethernet Port of Netgear Router; Port 1 of Router to 16 Port Switch; 16 Port Switch to 8 Port Switch; Port 4 of Switch to DVR. (Note: 16 Port switch send signals to different rooms of the house, 8 Port switch sinds the signal of that room to various hardwired devices).
I keep getting "No Signal" from the DVR box. AT&T wants me to pay $50 for Elevated Support, when I know how to do this stuff. I just need to know what exact setting the DVR Box needs to communicate with the Gateway. Is it an MTU Size issue? Is it an IP address range setting? Any help would be appreciated.

@JWJohnson The DVR must be directly connected to the R(esidential)G(ateway) (by coax or cat5e), not going thru any other router/switch. 😉

Why? What is preventing the DVR from communicating with the Gateway? AT&T already alluded to the fact that in can be done. They just wanted me to pay them (more than the $250 I already fork out each month). Whether it is setting the router up in a PPOE mode or setting the MTU size to be smaller. There has got to be a way.

It's not an IP internet signal being sent from the RG to the DVR, it's image frame packet blocks sent out by ethernet or HPNA to DVR/STBs, needing QoS. 😉
