Router Making Hissing/Fizzing Noises
I have AT&T Uverse internet at home. I am currently connected and things are working fine. My modem is model number 5268AC (FXN)
Within the last 3 days, it has begun to make some strange noises. The noise sounds like hissing or fizzing. It's very similar to what my refriderator does in a cooling cycle sometimes. The noise is NOT high pitched, which is a common thing I've seen on Google. At first, I thought my refridgerator was going out. The modem is not excessively hot and there are no perceived issues other than the noise. Connection is steady and fast.
Now, I'm very concerned about my modem.
Any ideas on what this is and how to remedy this? I've tried calling support and was told there is high volume of calls, which I totally understand. I'm not sure how to get in touch with a technician or if it's even possible.
I am working from home in this crisis and can't have my internet go down.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No idea what you're hearing, but the gateway doesn't normally make any noise, especially noise you can hear across the room. If it were mine, I'd contact 800.288.2020 and request a replacement be sent.

I am having the same issue as you described a couple years ago. Please let me know what your outcome was. Did you call the number and get the replacement as davemize recommended? Was this something that you were able to do yourself or did they need to send a technician out? I appreciate your taking the time to share.

Hi, @BadgerInBama, we'd love to assist in looking into your gateway for you.
To begin, we'd recommend starting some basic troubleshooting steps, such as restarting your router.
You can fix many common internet issues by restarting your Wi-Fi gateway or All-Fi Hub. Here’s how:
If this is constant, or persists, please let us know, as we may need to schedule a technician to come out and take a look for you, or replace the device.

Thank you for your suggestion. I did as you said and our hub box is still chirping and buzzing periodically. The Internet appears to be working fine. However, my concern is that these noises are precursors to the system failing, leaving us without service in the middle of a work day. As we work from our house; this would be a very costly inconvenience at best. Please let me know what step we need to do next to get this system check and/or repaired.

@BadgerInBama, because this has continued, we will need to look into replacing your equipment.
To do this, we will need to discuss account details in private. We'll be sending a Direct Message shortly. Please look for a notification in the upper right corner of the page, alerting you of incoming messages.
