Ongoing issues with the Netgear 7550
I can't tell you how many hours I've spent on the phone with a variety of reps from the company including one from the President's office. I've continually had problems with this modem during the past year. I have replaced it twice and it still randomly drops the signal. This isn't limited to my Apple devices. My weather station, my laptop, my house thermostat... all of them come up without a signal at random times and need to be restarted.
This week, my AirBnB guests were completely unable to log onto their work computers even though I guaranteed them that they would be able to work from my home. I'm now having to unplug the router at least once a day to reconnect everything to wifi.
I've taken to doing my own diagnostics now on the modem and making adjustments because I cannot spend countless hours on the phone with reps who claim to have it fixed and then days later the same problem occurs. I'm documenting each change I make in case I need to reverse a setting. Today I ran my diagnostics and after running I see that this line of the IP test has failed "Continuity check to 6rd BR." A Google search indicates that this is a common problem with this modem especially with Windows 10.
Since DSL is the only option here in my area, does anyone have suggestions or solutions? Does ATT have plans to offer a better modem for those of us who can't access broadband?
Thanks in advance for any assistance. Sorry that this message is filled with frustration.
