Is the NVG599 Gateway with Date Code from 2015 an upgrade from Pace 5268AC FXN installed 8/2018?
New service installed on 8/31/18. Last week was on the phone with Customer Service for account maintenance, and the Rep said I was 'eligible' for a new, upgraded Gateway. I asked why would I need an upgrade, since service was installed 30 days ago. Rep said it was a better Gateway and could not explain anymore technical information.
I received a NVG599 Gateway with Date Code of 6/27/2015. I called Customer Service to ask what is better with the 3 year old Gateway vs. the 30 Day old Gateway (No date code on the 5268AC, S/N 10171N102XXX (XXX for privacy reasons). Called Tech Support on the Install instructions. Asked about the 3 year old NVG599 being better than 5268AC in what way? Could not answer except it was 'better' .
I was told that once I install the new Gateway, my old Gateway will not work, so there is no real way to compare a speedtest or any other comparison.
I did a speed test on my 5268AC and am getting 53-54MB Down and 10-11 UP. I have 50MB Service, There is no Fiber Optic in the neighborhood nor planned. No gaming or heavy streaming except NetFlix, etc on 4K Smart TV.

I’ve gotten over the lack of LEDs with the BGW210. I feel like I’ve been an unwilling participant as a test mule for att RGs. Had the 5268 first, devices constantly disconnecting, poor WiFi performance. Next was the 599, and again had to endure pathetic WiFi performance. Went through a second device, then was sent another 5268 also with lousy WiFi performance. Decided to reconfigure my setup here to dump HPNA and never looked back. The BGW is able to deliver bandwidth to my internet 75 service. Caveat emptor. At least I can say there indeed was light at the end of the long dark tunnel. The BGW isn’t perfect as there have been teething pains with bad firmware releases that were never officially acknowledged. Stable now, knock on wood.

Hi All,
Thanks for your replies. Could you help me with some Pro's and Con's that would make a difference as whether I should keep the 5268AC or swap it out for the NVG599? I know you may not be able to say yes or no, but if you could help with 'best suited' for what we use our Gateway for:
1. Mostly surfing internet for information
2. No gaming or heavy streaming of video etc over WiFi.
3. 4K TV hardwired with HDMI to the DirecTV Mini-Genie, Ethernet cable direct to the Gateway.
4. Will be adding 1 more 4K TV, but plan to run HDMI and Ethernet cable to that TV as well.
5. All WiFi use is very close to the Gateway, no long distances to support.
If there is a better suited Gateway to request from AT&T, please suggest as well.

Hello, I was under the impression DirecTV customers were intended to be given the BGW210 RG.
In any case if you do have a choice, ask for the Arris BGW210. Newer design and better performer.
