Inconsistent Internet Speeds
Hello,
I am paying for internet speeds that are within the 100 mbps range. However, I've noticed that my internet speeds are inconsistent across various devices. For example, my Amazon 4k Firestick and Playstation 4 (Not far from my router) record an average of an extremely slow 1-3 mbps after running speed tests. Interestingly, my Xbox One (Which happens to be the farthest device from my router located in the basement) records better speeds that are above 50 mbps or higher. Also keep in mind that I do not live in a large home nor are my devices located near other devices that emit radio frequencies. What should I do?

Comes down to the quality of the WiFi in your router vs the WiFi in each individual device, whether you use 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz, and anything in between (physical or signal) that might affect it.
Ideally you want a direct Ethernet connection. Alternatively you can use a powerline adapter (plugs into a regular electrical outlet) to adapt an Ethernet connection. Only use this option if your home wiring is in good condition. Some of them have 2 port, or even WiFi in them. My household uses a mix of game consoles and DirecTV at the main TV, so I am rearranging my setup for one there with a switch as the devices are not all in use at the same time (so I don't have to keep moving cords). Though powerline doesn't reach max speed as you could with direct Ethernet, it usually is much faster and more stable then WiFi.
