Bad internet reception at front of house

I have ATT Uverse 1K internet service.  My modem is in the back bedroom and wired to my personal computer which I use daily.   I need a solution to get the internet to work faster and not lag in the front of the house where my sons bedrooms are located and they play games.  I have several family members who use the internet for phones, Exbox, Playstation and streaming.  We tried buying the extenders and the reception is still not good.  Is there another solution aside from moving the modem out of my bedroom or running a wire through the outside of the house to manually connect to the modem?

Thanks

You might want to consider a mesh WiFi system (Netgear, Eero, Google, etc). The routers can be purchased with one or more satellites to place in different locations. They use a dedicated 5GHz back channel to communicate with the router, or ideally you can hard wire the satellite(s) to the router. However, you will need to place your gateway in pass through or bridge mode to "disable" the router part so you can connect the mesh router to it.
