AT&T Modem Router + Apple Airport Extreme = ?
Nobody from AT&T can seem to answer this so I turn to you knowledgeable folks!
In short, my Uverse internet and cable service is set to be installed on Saturday 6/22. The question that nobody from AT&T can't seem to answer is how I would set up my network with their hardware. I do a lot of intra-network activity including managing my Airport Extreme (router) via iOS devices, etc. I would like my Airport Extreme to be the ONLY router in the network which calls AT&T's in to question. I also have my own modem that I'd like to use which is apparently on the compatibility list.
So I guess my question is: Do I have to use AT&T's modem and/or router? If so, is it a single unit (router and modem in one)? If so, can I disable the router aspect of it and just use the modem side of it, allowing the Airport Extreme to do the DHCP routing?

On step 5, executed while logged in to the 2WIRE gateway, you select your AE as the device that should be treated in DMZplus mode by the gateway.

I just end to check, but under lan> IP address allocation, the AExtreme should be DMZ device, firewall disabled, address assignment is public, and wan is router? Feels weird to see firewall disabled on my airport. Thanks.

Not an Airport extreme but similar problem...
I have an issue I can't seem resolve. I've got the 3800 gateway, and am trying to setup my new Asus u87 router behind it. It is the ONLY thing connected to the gateway assigened with a .64 address. Wireless has been turned off. If I go to the Applications, Pinholes screen in the gateway and choose the router, it is the only thing on the list btw. I get this error message everytime --
A DMZplus PC is already configured. Remove this PC from DMZplus configuration and reboot it first.
there is nothing else in the list, where do I remove watever is there so I can get the Asus assigned to the DMZ?

I stil feel weird about that firewall being disabled, but it has worked.
if I plug a usb back up into the AE, is it safe without the att firewalls? Assuming the AE has one that's enough... Thanks

This was great help, but it is only working temporarily for me. Within 30-90 minutes of selecting my Apple Airport Extreme as the "the computer that will host applications through the firewall", unchecking and checking all the boxes as recommended, and allowing DMZ plus mode, the settings revert to uverse_DVR_ETH_3c:36:xx:xx:xx:xx which is the Uverse DVR.
Any ideas?
Thank you.
