AT&T box in yard but no service??

We have been trying to find out what services are running through our yard.  We have a green AT&T box in our front yard as well as DigRight confirming we have AT&T lines in our yard but nobody can tell us what we have.  We were told AT&T offers a service where a technician will come out and see what is in the box but when we went into the store to schedule this we were then told they could not do this!  We have been fighting with this for over a year and a half and are about fed up with the awful customer service we are receiving.  Any information would be helpful on the next steps!

Some type of copper if the box is older....

Copper Telephone wiring with load coils could go for miles... the internet does not work with load coils thus more limited in distance with drops.

For ADSL2+ UVERSE service best speed as single pair is 18/1 dropping as copper loop length increases to 10, 5, 3, 1.5, and final .76 at about 2.5 miles of copper. Distances over that would have no internet service available but could have POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) where still offered.

Generally inside of boxes are just slice points connections from one group of wires to the next set of wires. Could post a pic of the box in question?

This is an interesting find online... wiring splices with a visitor making a home?
