5268AC Router - Not Getting Correct Speed

After unplugging the router and plugging it back, I am getting 20mbps instead of 50mbps that I should receive. When I checked the Advanced Device Configuration site, I saw under "Gateway Status" that there is "Battery is not present". Is this something that could affect the slow download speed that I am receiving?

Affect speed, no…

the 5268 has an internal battery compartment on the bottom.

The battery is intended to provide Uverse VOIP renamed ATT Phone for up to (4) hours during a power interruption. Your responsibility to purchase, install and maintain the battery if need working home phone for a short period of time.

The battery does not provide power for any internet usage of hardwired Ethernet or wireless.

Concerning speeds, I suspect your now connected to the 2.4Ghz b/g/n wireless network instead of the 5Ghz n/ac wireless network.

So what do I have to do to achieve the correct speed?

We'd be happy to help you improve your internet speeds, @ksou1.

You can get started by following these few steps on optimizing your internet speeds:

  • Reboot devices regularly to clear system errors.
  • Exit streaming apps after watching videos or listening to music.
  • Set auto-updates on apps, gaming consoles, and PCs to run when your network isn’t busy.
  • Update anti-virus programs, drivers, firmware, and computer and device software.
  • Replace older Wi-Fi devices with newer, faster technology.
  • Check your device speed

Please reach back out, and let us know if this helps.
