Canceling AT&T Internet and retributions

Has anyone ever experienced the following???.... Could NOT access my AT&T DSL for over half a month. Called AT&T (they no longer have a dedicated Internet service number) and waited for 30 minutes to finally tal k with a tech. Was told they could NOT fix my internet; ONLY SOLUTION was to UPGRADE to fiberPlan at TWICE THE PRICE. Up-selling lasted 25 minutes. Asked to be transferred to someone to CANCEL my AT&T internet. Waited on hold for a l-o-n-g time. A person in billing spent another 30 minutes trying to up-sell me. After THAT (PLUS) length of time and asking if there was any more info she needed, I indicated that I considered the conversation ended and announced that I was hanging up. ALL I TALKED ABOUT AND ALL THAT WAS DISCUSSED WAS MY CANCELLING THE AT&T INTERNET. Within two hours, I had a CLIENT called me to tell me that my LANDLINE phone - one that I had for over 34 YEARS and through which my clients/business ran - had been DISCONNECTED OUT OF SPITE. Never talked about disconnecting/cancelling my LANDLINE phone. She just did it out of spite. I could NOT access my internet with AT&T for over half a month - and still had PAID service left. I also had JUST paid my phone and internet for the NEXT MONTH. AT&T wants to charge a RE-CONNECTING FEE and won't even discuss refunds of services (PHONE AND INTERNET) that were paid for but NOT ACCESSIBLE. Has anything like that happened to you?

File with the Better Business Bureau, FCC and any other bureau.  They’ll call pretty quick after that.

If you’re in an area that has been upgraded to fiber, ATT will no maintain the copper wiring or equipment.

This is known as a FORCED migration.
Struck by lightening needing a new gateway, have to switch to fiber.

Inside or outside home line issue no tech dispatch for repair, have to switch to fiber.

If you had ATT PHONE (Uverse VOIP) where the phone connection comes from the back of the gateway, phone requires internet connection, cancel internet would lose the phone.

If you had POTS service, then cancelling internet should not have cancelled phone but may need rewire at the main box.

EDIT….  did you receive a separate billing for phone (POTS) or only one bill for both services (VOIP)?
