Pre-ordering fiber
Saw a tech out today and asked him what the status was as only 2 streets in my area currently can't get fiber. He said he was "running splits" and should be finished with the 8 blocks in the next 3-5 days.
First, specifically, what does "running splits" mean and next, normally, how much time after this is done should I be able to get fiber and finally, other than signing up to be notified, how do I preorder (his suggestion).
He didn't say this specifically but it seems so many people want fiber that they don't have the manpower to install quickly once it's available.

While your address should be turned green for ordering soon if the other streets can already order, cannot pre order till address shows green for ordering. You can request to be notified, perhaps that is what referring to.
As far as installation time frame will be based upon available slots, if desire a particular day such as Friday or Saturday might be several weeks of waiting but if willing to take any day at any time slot could be sooner. Window arrival times are generally 2 hours such as 8-10, 10-12, 12-2, 2-4. The later on the day the more likely tech will be running late.
Average installation time is about 3 hours plus drive time but appointments are every two.
ATT has been hiring and training for fiber installations for past two years and still hiring. Training is about 3 months with another 30 days of new hire dispatching under direction of senior tech means two techs on those installs is fewer jobs that can be taken. About 6 months after hire is when the new arrival is actually affecting the load with more work able to be taken.
From May to end of October techs are generally working 6 days a week 9 to 10 hour days expected or 54+ hours per week or about 225 hours per month.
Know anyone looking to be an installer / repair technician?

Splits are they have fiber coming to a location and split it off to different addresses. You still may have to wait several months before available and I am pretty sure preorder isn’t available

I appreciate the info.
However, how do I know if my address is green?
The other streets have had fiber for more than a year and for some reason our 2 streets were left out until recently. Many in those areas grabbed fiber right away.
